Speaking at the event, Elton thanked guests for joining the celebration in the heat and welcomed everyone as friends

On 24th June, Elton John Zero celebrated with an intimate dinner at The River Café with Ruthie Rogers and guests including Elton John, David Furnish, Jessie Ware, Jacob Alon, Clara Amfo, Gemma Collins, Joe Locke, Kadiff Karwan, Damian Hurley, Kristen Mcmenamy and more.

Known for their love of entertaining and bringing people together, Elton and David hosted a suitably elevated gathering of friends from the worlds of music, fashion, film and culture for a memorable midsummer celebration at one of London’s most celebrated restaurants, The River Café. Guests gathered in the outdoor terrace overlooking the Thames, where the Neruda String Quartet of the Royal Academy of Music performed as glasses of Elton John Zero were served. As the sun began to set on a balmy summer evening, guests moved into Sylvia’s, the restaurant’s private dining room, where Ruthie Rogers and The River Café team presented a bespoke menu created to complement the drink. The evening reflected the spirit of celebration and bringing people together that sits at the heart of Elton John Zero.

Guests enjoyed risotto al pomodoro with fresh San Marzano tomatoes, Ligurian basil and Pecorino Gran Riserva; Branzino al forno, comprising sea bass fillet roasted with olive paste, zucchini ‘trifolati’, basil and mint, accompanied by braised Italian spinach and Tuscan roast potatoes; and lemon tart served with a selection of River Café gelati, perfectly complemented by a crisp glass of Elton John Zero.

Elton John opened the speeches, saying: I’d like to thank you all for coming in this unbelievable heat, you’re so kind. It’s very important to celebrate with people you love, and with your friends, because in the world we live in today, there’s too much negativity, too much hatred. So, a night like tonight, where we can celebrate something good, something positive amongst some great people, really means a lot to me.”

David Furnish said: What drew us to this product is the fact that it’s the first one of its kind and that it’s made differently. All the non-alcoholic drinks we’ve all tried and haven’t really enjoyed very much are made with alcohol and then dealcoholised, whereas with this product, the grapes are fermented with good cultures and that creates all of the qualities and properties and personality of a beautiful Blanc de Blancs, without creating alcohol. So it’s grown from the inside and we’ve taken nothing out, other than infusing with green tea to provide some texture, and that’s why it drinks so well. I want to thank Paul and Madeleine from Benchmark Drinks for working with us and helping us bring this drink to life. They’ve been terrific partners and they really understood that we wouldn’t enter into something like this unless we truly believed in it and would serve it in our home and share it with our friends. I’d also like to thank Ruthie for hosting tonight. River Cafe was the very first restaurant to carry Elton John Zero!”

“Thank you all for coming. I want to raise a glass and make a toast to the arrival of Elton John Zero, and thank you all for coming tonight and supporting us – we love you very much.”
